A Career Defined by Projects
Most people grow up thinking in terms of jobs and affiliations: “I’m going to be an accountant,” or “I’ll work at General Dynamics.” I’ve always seen my career differently—built around a series of projects, not traditional roles. Projects are about invention, execution, and impact. Some take on a life of their own and thrive; others flare and fade. Either way, they mark my career, and I’m grateful to have found success in a world increasingly driven by projects.

A Two-Part Approach to Projects
My approach to building a career in projects has two foundations. First, I seek partners willing to provide resources and share upside—always retaining equity to ensure the work reflects my vision, not just the client's requirements. Second, I’ve built the network, technology, and confidence to tackle large, complex projects that demand collaboration and leadership. These “complicated projects, done on time” have become my niche.

The Project Cycle
The stages of a project—getting unstuck, sharing a vision, facing rejection, finding a home, building, launching, and planting seeds for growth—have been a recurring cycle in my life. Each time, the process feels more personal. It’s not just about starting or completing the project; it’s about owning it, shaping it into something meaningful, and creating work that resonates.

The Changing Landscape of Creation
The rise of digital tools has transformed how we launch and distribute projects. It’s easier than ever to create and share content directly with an audience, bypassing traditional gatekeepers like publishers or record labels. While this removes barriers, it also demands a stronger internal compass to ensure the work is meaningful. For me, the focus has always been on representing the project itself—letting its needs and goals guide every decision.

A Retrospective on Projects
Over four decades, I’ve had the privilege of creating and shipping hundreds of projects. Not all were the biggest or most successful, but each reflects a specific moment in my journey as a designer and creator. These projects stand as milestones of where I was, what I learned, and how I grew.

Thank you for taking the time to explore my work. This is a celebration of creativity, persistence, and the power of projects to shape careers—and lives.
